Cardona i Solsona

Especialment Cardona.

Us la recomano.

Too much holidays. Our visit to Cardona and Solsona (in Catalonia) were a few days earlier than our trip to Galicia. However, somehow, my brain decided to forget that it happened in that order and I’ve already told you about my trip in the nort west of Spain. Well, let me explain you our day in those little towns, because it was wonderful.

Cardona and Solsona were two towns where I hadn’t been. You know? That thing of you don’t do tourism next door, you rather travel 20,000km instead. Sometimes we forget the wonderful places we have around the corner. I really enjoyed Cardona, a little town with a beatiful castle on top of a hill. Far from crowded places, nice, tranquil.

We decided to have lunch in Cardona where Chalita realised that there is a Catalan dessert that she does not like. It’s called “mel i mató”. Mató is a non-salted cheese, made with goat milk. It has a rather strong flavor so we serve it with honey to make it sweeter. So nice. Well, nice to me, Chalita’s face wasn’t the “delicious” face that I expected. So well, I had two mel i mató for dessert while she shared Crema Catalana (another Catalan desert similar to Crème Brûlée) with Szymanski. More for me, yum.

Once we finished visiting Cardona and Solsona, and still with a couple of hous of sunshine, we decided to stop to a lake (Llac Ponç) on our way home. And the stop was so much worth it. We did some kayaking in the lake and ended up swimming like kids before heading home. Highly recommendable indeed.

The following day we did a little walk in Barcelona, but the heat was so bad that we couldn’t enjoy as much as we wanted to.
